What is Thrive Market?
Thrive Market was founded by a group of 4 young entrepreneurs united through seeing how hard their parents worked to put healthy food on the table against a food system that made it expensive, inconvenient and confusing.
Together they are driven by the passion to provide every American family with access to healthy products, reliable information, and affordable prices.
They created an online market that provides healthy, natural, and sustainable products ranging from food, cleaning to beauty products available for every budget, lifestyle, and geography.
Thrive Market offers 25-50% off retail pricing on high-quality organic products. Free shipping (on orders over $49) is fast and carbon neutral.
Its members are showered with amazing exclusive deals, rewards, and free product gifts on every order.
And every paid membership provides one free membership for someone in need!
Is Thrive Market Worth Its Membership Cost?
Thrive Market advertises selling at wholesale prices to its members, and the membership fee is set up as follows:
- 1-month – $9.95/month
- 1-year – $5/month (billed at $59.95)
They guarantee that you’ll make back the membership fee in savings or they’ll refund you the difference when you renew. So essentially your annual membership will always pay for itself in savings!
You can cancel for any reason within the first 30 days of your membership to get a full refund. Future charges can be canceled anytime prior to your membership charge date.
You can apply for a Thrive Market free membership if you are a low-income family, veteran, teacher, or student.
If you have more questions or concerns about their membership charge, you can find more details here.
What is it like to use Thrive Market? Having been a member for over a year, I personally found their store brand products to be of high quality at great prices compared to my local grocery stores.
My savings of about $200 last year way more than covered the cost of the membership!
One of my favorite repeat purchases is the Thrive Market Grass-Fed Collagen Peptides Protein Powder– the amazing joint and skin health benefits and savings on this item alone are worth the cost of the membership!
You can check out my other grocery items below.
I also love the benefits of time-saving and convenience of ordering from home plus free delivery to my door (on orders over $49).
Thrive Market customer service is fast and friendly. I had an issue with my Thrive Market credits not applying to my purchase, and a quick chat with their customer service representative promptly refunded the difference.

Top Reasons You’ll Love Shopping at Thrive Market
Ordering groceries online from Thrive Market may not be for everyone. However, you’ll love shopping at Thrive Market if you:
- Don’t live near a health specialty grocer such as Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods
- You like to shop natural and organic brands
- You like to shop for products with simple, clean ingredients like this almond milk with ONLY 4 wholesome ingredients, at a bargain price to boot!
- Buy a lot of ‘specialty’ products (specific snacks, sauces and etc)
- Like to save money and receive up to 30% off discount deals and free gifts regularly.
- Don’t have the time to go grocery shopping at your local supermarkets and wait in the check-out line
- Like the convenience and comfort of shopping from your home using your laptop or smartphone (there is even an app!).
- Don’t enjoy physically going to the grocery stores and hauling heavy groceries around
- You enjoy no-nonsense shopping by diet (such as gluten-free, paleo, ketogenic and vegan, etc). Thrive Market even provides Starter Kits focused on specific diets or themes that enable you to samples their relevant best-sellers.
Best Thrive Market Products to Buy
Wondering what you should buy at Thrive Market? Here is my shopping list with the best things to get from Thrive Market for clean eating, meal prep and weight loss that’ll also help you get the most bang for your buck!
- Thrive Market Grass-Fed Collagen Peptides Protein Powder – the amazing savings and benefits of this one item alone is worth the cost of the membership! Collagen peptides promote joint and bone health, which is important for you to stay active to maintain a healthy weight. It also supports hair, skin and nail health! It’s a tasteless powder that I easily add to my morning coffee.
- Thrive Market Almond Milk (only 4 ingredients!) – most almond milk ingredients label are full of ingredients you can’t easily pronounce or understand, and may contain cancer-causing chemicals such as carrageenan. This almond milk contains only 4 real food ingredients!
- Thrive Market Organic Spices – great variety at unbeatable prices! There are many studies done on turmeric health benefits for our bodies. The benefits of cinnamon, cumin, and many other spices have also been widely used in traditional Asian medicine.
- Thrive Market Organic Gluten-Free Rolled Oats – make wholesome, filling, and hearty breakfasts or snacks with these oats!
- Jovial Organic Einkorn All-Purpose Flour – Einkorn is the world’s most ancient wheat and is considered a healthy alternative to those with gluten sensitivity. If you have a recipe that calls for all-purpose flour, this is one of my top healthy choices.
- Jovial Organic Tomatoes – I love the glass jar! Saves time as I always transfer the canned leftovers to a glass jar to avoid the metallic taste.
- Emperor’s Kitchen Organic Chopped Garlic – a huge time-saver when cooking. No prep needed, just scoop and add to your dish!
- Ginger People Organic Minced Ginger – there are numerous benefits of ginger for weight loss and health. This minced ginger is another meal prep time-saver that makes you feel like a professional TV chef all set up and ready to just scoop and drop ingredients into the pot!
- Thrive Market Organic Raw Unstrained Honey – if you have a sweet tooth, raw honey is a great natural substitute for processed sugar that won’t spike your blood sugar level.
- Thrive Market Organic Maple Syrup – another natural substitute for processed sugar that is also great for cooking.
Clean Eating Snacks:
Whether you are looking for low-carb snacks, high protein bars, or healthy late-night snacks, you can find a wide variety of clean snacks to satisfy your cravings:
- Organic Sriracha Cashews
- Grass-fed Beef Jerky
- Organic Roasted Seaweed
- Organic Dried Apricots
- Organic Goji Berries
- Epic Provision Lemon Protein Bars
- Almond Butter Squeeze Packs (pre-portioned)
- Trail Mixes
Pros of Thrive Market
- Variety – they provide a wide selection of natural and organic brands. I especially love the variety of clean eating snacks as I’ve started to pack snacks for my twins to eat at school.
- Discounts Galore – Members are spoiled with exclusive discount deals up to 30% off on a regular basis and free gifts that save you even more on every order.
- Shop by Diet – shop quickly by limiting your product selection to only the foods allowed on your diet, whether you are on the ketogenic, paleo, Whole30, gluten-free or vegan diet and more.
- High-Quality Store Brand Products– What is the best way to saving money when shopping at Thrive market? Buying Thrive Market brand products that are actually known to be of good quality at great prices. This is my #1 reason for shopping at Thrive Market.
- Free and Fast Delivery – free delivery (on orders over $49) and fast shipping (85% of orders ship within 2 days).
- Giving Back – Like to help someone in need by giving away a free Thrive Market membership with your paid membership
Cons of Thrive Market
- Membership Fee – membership is not free, but they guarantee you’ll make it back in savings or they’ll refund you the difference when you renew.
- Delivery charge – for orders under $49. However, you can plan ahead and avoid this by keeping track of what you have and what you need, and only order when you have enough need to meet the minimum order amount.
- Delivery Waiting Period – you’ll need to plan ahead as you won’t get the ingredients you need to cook dishes for that day. Majority of items ship in 2 days.
- No Perishables – you’ll still need to go to the grocery store for produce and other perishable items like produce and dairy.
- Spammy Emails – once you join, you’ll receive daily promotions and one-day-only discounts, which can feel spammy. But if you plan ahead and keep track of what you need, these promotions can provide significant savings!
Thrive Market Prices Comparison vs Stores
THRIVE MARKET VS WHOLE FOODS
While prices have come down at Whole Foods since they were bought out by Amazon, Thrive Market prices are generally cheaper compared to Whole Foods.
Thrive Market branded products are also cheaper overall compared to Whole Foods 365 Everyday Value products.
THRIVE MARKET VS TRADER JOE’S
My Thrive Market review of prices compared to that of Trader Joe’s found that Trader Joe’s came out on top with lower prices overall, especially when it comes to store-branded products. However, I also found the selection of organic items to be greater at Thrive Market.
THRIVE MARKET VS COSTCO
The Thrive Market membership model and fee remind me of Costco’s similar model. However, you can buy non-grocery options such as electronics and furniture so it’s hard to do a true comparison.
As far as groceries go, Thrive Market has a far wider selection of organic foods, especially when it comes to healthy pantry options. But you can buy fresh produce from Costco’s, which makes it a more convenient one-stop-shop.
Overall I highly recommend Thrive Market if you don’t live near a healthy specialty grocery store and are looking to eat a healthy, clean diet without breaking the bank.
I hope you found my Thrive Market review helpful. If you’re ready to test out Thrive Market with a 30-day risk-free cancellation period, you can use my link here to choose a FREE gift, up to $60 in value and 30% off your first order (1-month membership or 1-year membership at 50% discount)!
